This policy explains how we handle personal data in connection with visits to and use of our website at https://www.mwfire.co.uk. It is intended for members of the public, clients, and any other person who interacts with the website, and should be read alongside our Data Protection Policy (P05).
Contact details are available on the Contact page of this website.
2. What Personal Data We Collect and Why
MW Fire Ltd does not collect personal data from website visitors for business, analytical, or marketing purposes. The website operates via a Content Management System (CMS) which manages all website functions automatically and is configured not to share usage data with third-party software providers where the option to decline is available. There are however categories of data that are generated as a by-product of standard website operation, as described below.
2.1 Security and login. Security plugins manage the login process and protect the website against threats such as brute force attacks and spam. These may log IP addresses and URL references for security purposes. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. Where you register as a user of the website, your profile information is stored within the CMS and is accessible to website administrators.
2.2 Contact forms. If you submit an enquiry via a contact form, the information you provide is sent directly to MW Fire Ltd by email. It is not stored within the CMS. The information is used solely to respond to your enquiry and is not used for marketing purposes.
2.3 Comments. If you leave a comment on the website, the comment text, your IP address, and browser information are collected to assist with spam detection. Comment metadata is retained for as long as the comment remains published. An anonymised version of your email address may be passed to the Gravatar service to retrieve a profile image if you use that service. The Gravatar privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/.
2.4 Embedded content. The website may contain embedded content from third-party sources such as video providers. Embedded content behaves as though you have visited the originating website directly, and those third parties may collect data about your interaction with that content.
2.5 Media. If you upload images to the website, please ensure that any embedded location data (EXIF GPS) has been removed beforehand. This data can be extracted by other visitors to the website.
3. Cookies
Cookies are small files placed on your device by the website. They are used to support core website functions including session management, login persistence, and security. They do not, of themselves, identify you as an individual.
MW Fire Ltd does not use cookies for marketing, tracking, or analytical purposes, and does not use Google Analytics or equivalent software.
You can disable cookies via your browser settings. Doing so will not prevent you from viewing the website, although some functionality may be affected. For further information on managing cookies, visit www.aboutcookies.org.
4. How Long We Retain Your Data
Data held in registered user profiles is retained for as long as the account remains active. You may edit or delete your personal information at any time, with the exception of your username. Website administrators may also access and edit this information.
Contact form submissions are not stored by the CMS and are retained by MW Fire Ltd only for as long as is necessary to respond to the enquiry.
Data that the company is required to retain for legal or security purposes will be kept for the minimum period necessary to fulfil that obligation.

In the event of a personal data breach affecting website users, the company will follow the procedures set out in its Data Protection Policy (P05), including notification to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) within 72 hours where required.
